Website Under Construction

Foundation for Education and Development (FED) is a public charitable trust established by 5 renowned educationists in the year 2000. FED runs a project called Doosra Dashak (DD) for holistic and integrated education of adolescents. Since inception, this project has been able to successfully engage with “out of school” adolescents through significant contributions to making the lives of young people from rural areas more productive and meaningful.

Doosra Dashak has also been addressing the learning needs of the school going adolescents belonging to the most marginalized communities, in remote rural areas. It envisions holistic and value based education as a means of harnessing the latent potential of the youth for working proactively as harbingers of social change.

DD now continues to look at ways to further develop its work to address the ever changing needs of young people in rural areas who exist on the periphery of education.

Method of Work
Reach

In the year 2000, five renowned educationists started a public charitable trust named Foundation for Education and Development. The following year this trust started implementation of the project called Doosra Dashak (DD).The project which was initially started in Bap block (Jodhpur district) and Kishanganj block (Baran district) in June 2001 is now being implemented in approximately 1003 villages of 196 panchayats in 9 blocks of Rajasthan. Over the years, we have worked intensively with nearly 14537 adolescents as direct and 34578 adolescents as indirect beneficiaries, along with their parents and wider community.

This is an innovative model for providing good, relevant education to adolescents who dropped out of primary schooling. It not only focuses on providing education and skills to adolescents but also equips them to create a society based on equity and justice. DD believes that adolescents can make a valuable contribution not only to the betterment of their own lives but also make a difference to the communities.
